XII. GOVERNMENT POLICIES

The Brazilian government has progressively become a strong supporter of IT services. The Federal government instituted an IT import “freeze” in 1984, designed to protect the burgeoning IT market. In 1992, the restrictions were lifted, and the well-established Brazilian domestic market experienced significant adverse competition from global operators.
